How does Telehealth work?

Telehealth consultations are conducted using common video conferencing or video call platforms.  A suitable platform should be agreed on prior to your consultation.

Telehealth consultations are preferable if attending the clinic is difficult for you.  However, an initial face-to-face consultation will be required before Telehealth consultations can commence.

There are some Medicare requirements to meet before gaining a Medicare rebate. Without a face-to-face consultation in the last 12 months, there is no Medicare rebate available and a 20 minute consultation will cost $120.00.

How does the informed consent model work?

Under an ‘informed consent’ model we perform the initial assessment, play a key role in mental health and risk assessments for you and organise referral for a secondary consultation where required.  The model is the threshold for the initiation of HRT.

Referral to a mental health specialist is not normally required to initiate gender affirming hormone therapy. It is usually takes between 3-5 appointments to work through the informed consent model. This is essential as we aim to provide comprehensive, high quality, evidenced-based holistic care beyond just the initiation of hormone therapy.
